Galaxidi

Every year, on Clean Monday, tourists and locals engage in a flour battle throwing flour and colour at each other in the town of Galaxidi to celebrate the tradition of ¨Alevromoutzouromata¨. It is one of the most distinctive customs for the local community believed to have its origins back to the Byzantine times when clowns in the hippodromes would paint their faces with colours.
